Altered Box

This monthly workshop was a little messy but such good fun. The ladies constructed a box from scratch using grey board.
Panels were cut to size, along with the hinges and the inside decorative card pieces. They gave a quick gesso layer to the panels for a perfect base layer. The inside was decorated using embossed card, which was then blended with ink, to give a coloured distressed theme. The box was formed using the hinges to hold all the grey board pieces together. The outside was then decorated with scrunched tissue paper using a PVA glue and water mixture, a little like decoupaging to give a nice textured look. Once that has been allowed to dry, they applied a layer of coloured paint.

Now to the decoration, it was all about adding those finishing touches. Firstly two scrunch flowers needed to be made, this was done by having 7 layers of scalloped circle punches ranging from large to small. Punch a whole in the centre of each and then secure together in size order using a brad. Now spritz with water and scrunch into a ball, then slowly peel each layer out flat to create a flower. dry naturally or with a heat gun for a quick result.

Once the floral centre pieces had been made it was then a case of adding die cut foliage. Then onto adding lace edging to the lid.
