Tiled Birthdays 

 

In today's workshop we created these three beautiful cards, its amazing the different variations of cards you can create from the same papers! 

Using a natural colour palette, of five different pattern papers, the patterned paper was cut into the various sizes, of either squares or strips. Meaning no scraps! The ladies positioned and and adhered the cut patterns papers onto a plain white sheet of card, this acted as a supportive backing sheet and border for one card. Each piece of patterned card combination was then put through the embossing machine to add that texture. Its was then a simple case of mat and layering onto some coloured card, and finished with a die cut and stamped sentiments, plus a beautiful bow.

Spanner Panel Cards 

Todays workshop focused on creating a different card design, named Spanner Panel Card. It gives an interesting extra layer to the card, which can be used to hide even more wonders under. Once the base card was created, then it was mainly a case of matt and layering! 

The first card used both patterned and plain paper to create the effect, some of the plain card was embossed to add an extra texture and dimension. It was then a case of using a beautiful die set from Spellbinders, to create the edging and sentiment die, which gave it that nice elegance. 

The second card went for a plainer style with less frills but used acetate to achieve the clear layer in which the beach huts and sentiment was adhered to, giving it the effect of greater depth.

 This weeks workshop;

Distressed! 

Todays techniques included lots of blending to create those graded or merged coloured backgrounds, achieved using the Distress Inks and blending brushes. 

This beautiful blending technique has been achieved using a mixture of three or four distress inks, apply the first colour to the base of the card using a blending brush or smoothie. Apply the next colour but blend the colours together moving up the card . Apply the other colours in the same way, then to finish of the look, a spritz of water was applied and left to dry to create a  natural specked effect. 

The two cards have been stamped and trimmed with ribbon. The third card has stamped  panels so the blended backgrounds have been stamped and embossed .Highlights have been added to the stamped image so they pop.
