Art Deco

A traditional Art Deco styled card gave much pleasure during the workshop last Wednesday and Thursday.

The card is made from  3 pieces of cardstock.Sizes 21cm x 13cm (back panel),15cm x 15cm (middle panel) and 9cm x 17cm (front panel).The back and middle panels are shaped by measuring in from bottom left and right corners 6cm.From this point draw a line to each outside top corner and cut.

The front panel is cut into a triangle- find the middle point along the 9cm side,draw two lines out from this point to the outside top corners.Layer all three panels together with 1mm foam tape.Cut a triangle piece of patterned cardstock to fit along bottom edge.Trim back and front panels with corners and borders.The stand for the card is made from a piece of cardstock 20cm x 14.5cm.Measure in from the left and right 9.5cm top and bottom and make two score lines,fold to creat a spine and stick to the centre of the back of the card.

Stamp an Art Deco image onto cardstock and colour using any medium you choose.We have used Distress Ink Pads as watercolours.Cut out and mount onto front of card with foam tape.

This is an A5 size card. Cut a plain purple piece of card 20.5cm x 14.5cm and a patterned piece of paper 20cm x 14cm and mount together.Stick to front of card.Trim with black border peel offs -two lines, the outer one has inverted corners and the inner line overlaps the outer line giving the Art Deco corners.

Emboss a white piece of cardstock with an Art Deco style embossing folder,mount onto front of card.Trim with a punched border from glitter card (peel the backing from the glitter card before punching as this will make the card thinner and easier to punch).

Stamp an Art Deco image onto cardstock and colour using any medium you choose.We have used Distress Ink pads as watercolours.Cut out and mount onto front of card with foam tape.Trim with a co-ordinating feather.

Cobblestone Cards

Simply cobblestone backgrounds are very effective.Frames and Layers add dimension and die-cut Flourishes add that finishing touch.

Take a 6" x6" card measure in approx 1cm and apply Cosmic Shimmer Pearl Glue (Black,Silver and Bronze) in different size dots to give a random effect.Leave to dry.

Cut a piece of black card 13cm x 13xm and a white piece 12.5cm x 12.5cm-emboss the white card on all four sides approx 1/2 cm in from outside edge.Die -cut a Frame using Spellbinders Labels Twenty Two.

Lay the Frame on the white card and mark the area for stamping sentiment.

Stamp sentiment  in Black ink and Foilage using the Perfect Medium Pad and brush over with Cosmic Shimmer Mica Pigments in Gold.

Layer together the black and white card,stick the frame on with foam tape arranging  some die-cut flourishes around the edge.Mount onto card front once the cobblestone effect is dry.

Add a flower embellishment to finish.

This card has been created in the same way as the one above,but using patterned paper as a background and different coloured Cosmic Shimmer Pearl Glues.

You will never be out of style with these Gala Dresses Stamp set from Creative Expressions.Every lady likes a posh frock!

This card was inspired from the Creative Expressions Project Book Vol 1.

The card is A5.Cut a piece of patterned cardstock 14cm x 20cm and round the corners.Mount flat onto front of card.

Cut 2 pieces of plain cardstock 12.5cm x 17.5cm.Take 1 piece and emboss using an embossing folder through a Cuttlebug or similiar embossing machine.Die cut the centre using the 3rd largest die from the Decorative Labels Eight Spellbinders die set.Round the corners on both pieces.

Lay both pieces together and mark through the aperture with a pencil as a guide for stamping.

Stamp Gala dress stamp onto the plain piece of cardstock.Also stamp dress onto a piece of patterned cardstock,cut out and decoupage onto stamped image.

Mount both pieces together using foam tape so the dress shows through the aperture.Mount onto front of card.Die-cut a frame using the 3rd and 4th largest spellbinders dies together.Stick this over the aperture.Trim card with a Bow and a Pearl embellishment.

A precut shutter card has been decorated with double sided patterned cardstock and embellished with die-cut mounts stamped with sentiments and a gala dress.

Measure each panel of the shutter card and cut cardstock to fit.Glue and stick to card alternating the patterns.

Die-cut a mount using the largest die from the Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight die set.Stamp with one of the Gala Dress Stamps,stamp another couple of images onto patterned cardstock,cut out and decoupage onto stamped image.Ink edges of die-cut mount with Antique Linen Distress Ink.This is then mounted onto front panel of the card.

Cut two more die-cut mounts using the 2nd largest die ,stamp with sentiments,ink edges and then mount these onto panels inside the card.Trim with a bow.

You cannot go wrong with these cards made using the French Frills Spellbinders dies and Stamp set.Every woman would like to receive one of these.

Mulberry coloured cardstock has been cut using a corner die through a Die-cutting Machine.This has been layered over Cream cardstock so the pattern is highlighted.Three mannequins have been cut and stuck to the card so they are stepped.Stamp 3 bodices from the stamp set and colour the flower ,cut out and ink the edges.Mount these onto the mannequins giving each a bottom frill.Trim with a sentiment tag,a ribbon cluster and a flower embellishment.

This card ,we have used the same Spellbinders Die set - French Frills for the mannequins and stamp set for the Bodices,but we have also used a Spellbinders die set -Antique Frame and Accents for the mirror and embellishments.

Stamped and embossed background add dimension the card.The topper has been stamped and then die-cut using a Spellbinders Nesting Die.The flowers ,Butterflies and flourishes are also die-cut from a Spellbinders Shapeabilities Die set.

What a dramatic Card in striking Black and Red.Again an embossed background gives dimension and the punched mat gives interest.The Ribbon flourish is good if you have odd bits of ribbon as they are all tied together with a Dazzler embellishment to add that finishing touch.
