In the Frame

Despite the simplistic and elegant look of this weeks workshop, it involved several different techniques. There was quite a bit of die cutting of circles to do and a little bit for the butterflies, followed by embossing some beautiful backgrounds, for each card. Then it was a case of stamping, heat embossing and then colouring with distress inks. When you put it all together that when you get these beautiful creations.

Bubble Bonanza

We are back to Christmas this week, using the new Jane Gill Big Bubble stamps and dies. These brilliant stamps allow you to so much versatility. There are so many different options of how to fill in those circles, you could do it with paper or get messy with any mixed media.

To create the Bauble cards, the ladies first had to create the beautiful background using the Pixie Burst (Wild Moss & Rusty Red), adding just enough colour to  show through but not to much it distracts form the stamps.

Then it was a case of stamping and heat embossing. For the double bauble card, they were stamped directly onto the Pixie card, heat embossed and then coloured, using, pixie powders and water, polish silk glitter. (If colouring directly onto the Pixie card, the pixie powder already on the card with be reactivated with water, so you will have to used similar colours). The other single bauble card was stamped onto white card coloured using the same media and then cut around. Then it was simply mat and layering.

For the final card the stocking image, was stamped, heat embossed onto white card. To create the textured white top, the ladies used a embossing pent and white embossing powder. Additionally the leaves, were coloured using green ink. The circles where die cut using the coordinated die. Then shaped using a ball tool and finally layered onto the stamped image using foam tape, to give depth. This was then trimmed to shape and added to a patterned paper, which had be mat and layer to the card base. The they added a little sentiment to finish off.

Meadow Charm

Back to everyday cards in this week workshop. This workshop used the Paper Boutiques - Meadow Charm collection to create these three cards, and what can we say, we love the paper designs. You can never have enough of 'The Paper Boutique' pads.

If your looking to create a floral card this is definitely the pad for you, its lovely bright colours are nicely set on pale background.

In today's case it mainly consisted of lots of cutting and gluing. For the first card (diamond), the ladies had to cut all their papers to size, then emboss the two yellow diamonds. Then it was simply a case of mat and layering.

Card 2 (round topper), this card used lots of card, with the ladies needing to trim 9 pieces of card. The middle layers where then inked around the edges to blend the patterned paper and white backing card together. Then it was time to mat and layer. To recreate this card, it is a simple 15cmx15cm card, with the front page cut in half, then a 12cmx12cm card inserted to the middle of the card.

Card 3 was very simple, it is a square card base, layered with a patterned paper next, then a square piece of embossed ivory card. Finally three boarded panels, are layered on top with foam tape.

Its Beginning To Look Like Christmas

The first of many to come, this week was all about CHRISTMAS!
To ease everyone in gently, the workshop was a combination of a Card and a Chipboard Box.
The box is ideal for giving presents or special vouchers.

The card was made using decorative Christmas paper ,a stamp and matt and layering.
A aperture was cut from the patterned paper, turning it into a frame for the focal point, this being the stamped stocking image. The stockings were attached at either side and left hanging in the middle for a more 3D effect. The stocking image was created by stamping the image, heat embossed and then colouring, then it was a case of simply cutting the image out.

For the box the ladies had it nice and easy as Yvonne had pre cut the chipboard pieces, so it was a case of assembling the box using card hinges, to adhere it together, once complete the box was decorated with Christmas papers .

Plain & Simple

These simple but effective card are ideal for all occasions as they are so easily adaptable. The backgrounds where made using a light sprinkling of pixie powder, focusing on the working from the middle and graduating to the edges. Then it was a case of adding a die cut background and a little element die (in this case: a butterfly, champagne glasses, wheelbarrow and wellies). To finish it was a simple job of mat and layering, onto a delicate colour and then onto black, which was then adhered to the white card blank.
