This weeks workshop; 

Spring / Easter Pyramid 

What a challenge Yvonne set the ladies with this weeks workshop. 

It consisted of creating a Pyramid chipboard with a base and an inner box that can then be used to contain an Easter egg if you wish. This design has been adapted from a Christmas tree template but we think it works just as well to brighten the place up with a Spring feel. 

 

The pyramid was constructed from chipboard which was painted with gesso to supply a background covering. The edges where then painted in a coloured paint to compliment the pattern paper. 

It was then time to cut pattern paper to size to cover to the chipboard pieces. The pieces were hinged which were made from card and to finish it all off, embellishments where added. We used several Easter themed dies and some MDF embellishments from our Easter pack.

  This weeks workshop; 

Spots + Stipes

We went for a bit of a change with this weeks workshop focusing on Masculine cards, which can quite often be overlooked. This workshop looked at using material you have to hand in your craft room and adapting them to make unique patterns and styles.   

The cards were created using blue and brown tones and blending them together. You can use either a punch or die cut to create your circles, which have been used on both the first and last cards. For the first card, simply cut the circles in half and place accordingly, in this case Yvonne has placed the circles on an embossed piece of card to give extra texture. The 2nd card used layering techniques and creating a flag banner.  The third card is just a mixed array of circles, completed with an embellished strip. All finished of with a sentiment stamp.

Birthday Memories

This workshop focused on constructing a mini Album, which can then be filled with all those precious memories.  

The album was created using just 3 sheets of A4 card. Then decorated with patterned paper to create your desired effect. Adding stamped sentiments , ribbons and embellishments.

Flower Patch

This workshop focused on constructing two side panel fold cards, which were  beautiful decorated with; The Paper Boutique - Flower Patch Paper Pad. 

Resulting is such beautiful and elegant floral design, with a touch of fun added by creating bunting from the paper scraps. 

I'm sure these would put a smile on anyone face who's lucky enough to receive one.

                               Fun Fold Cube Card

Instructions:-

·   Cut base card to create cubes. 1 piece   18 ½ cm x 19 cm, 2 pieces  13 ½ cm x 19 cm, 3 pieces  9cm x 19cm and 2 pieces  4 ½ cm x19cm.

·        Score all of these on the landscape side at 4 ½ cm, 9 cm, 13 ½ cm and 18cm

   ·        Fold all score lines. Mitre corners of small flaps before gluing. Make up cubes.

·        Glue cubes together forming a pyramid.

·        Cut matts (base colour) – 4  pieces 4 cm x 8 ½ cm and 16 pieces  4 cm x 4 cm

·        Cut pattern paper – 4 pieces 3 ½ cm x 8 cm and 16 pieces 3 ½ cm x 3 ½ cm

·        Layer matts and patterned paper and attach to the panels on the cubes.

·        Decorate as required. Make sure the embellishment do not obstruct the card folding flat.

·        Sentiment – 1 x 15cm x 2cm. Score at 1 ½ cm, 3 cm, 12 cm and 13 ½ cm.

   Last weeks workshop

One-Liner Cards

The focal point of this weeks cards were the beautifully simple but effective one-liner dies, by Creative Expressions. Yvonne used the Butterfly and Balloon designs but there are several others to choose from, so be sure to check them out.  

Pixie powders have been used to create the vibrant colours on the inner die sections of the butterflies and balloons, with a dark or mirri card outline, to build contrast. Also, to give additional emphasis on the balloon card,  plain white dies cuts have been added to the background which act almost as a embossed effect. With the Butterfly cards, die-cuts are inlaid on a matt and layered with a die cut  decorative background.
